Metabolic pathway
- Metabolic pathway are series of chemical reactions occurring within a cell.
- A principal chemical is modified by chemical reactions.
- Enzymes catalyze these reactions.

Protein-protein interaction
- The direct-contact association of protein molecules but also longer range interactions through the electrolyte, aqueous solution medium surrounding neighbor hydrated proteins over distances from less than one nanometer to distances of several tens of nanometers.
- Signals from the exterior of a cell are mediated to the inside of that cell by protein-protein interactions of the signaling molecules.

Signal transduction
- Transduction refers to any process by which a cell converts one kind of signal or stimulus into another.
- Most processes of signal transduction involve ordered sequences of biochemical reactions inside the cell, which are carried out by enzymes and activated by second messengers, resulting in a signal transduction pathway.

Genetic pathway
- The set of ineractions occurring between a group of genes who depend on each other's individual functions in order to make the aggregate function of the network available to the cell.
